Environmental policy

PRODEMAN has a clear environmental policy that encompasses several commitments that converge in one central objective: sustainable production.

Our commitments include soil conservation and crop rotation, responsible resource consumption, traffic prevention, environmental education for our employees, constant improvement in environmental performance and Articulation of the links with the municipalities and institutions to promote a circular economy and the sustainable development of our community.

Carbon Footprint

Since 2010, in PRODEMAN we measure the Carbon Footprint of the company and of our products.
The carbon footprint is a measure of environmental impact and performance, therefore, it allows us to be aware of our impact on the environment and to design improvements to reduce it.
The footprint is an inventory of greenhouse Gases (GEIs) emitted directly or indirectly by an individual, organization, activity or product, and therefore reflects the potential for global warming.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most abundant GHG and therefore the footprint is expressed according to the amount of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2eq).
The scope of the measurement includes all the activities of the company, from the primary production, the transport of our raw material to the plant, the elaboration of our products and the transport to the final destination. Soon, the start-up of our bioenergy plant will allow us to compensate up to 80% of our emissions, significantly reducing our footprint and consolidating our strong commitment to the environment and the community.

Bioenergy Plant

We build an electric power generation plant by using the exclusive use of the peanut shell biomass.

This work meant a millionaire investment supported, economically, by a credit of FONARSEC and contributions own of PRODEMAN and, strategically, by a business decision founded on environmental awareness and in the search for a solution to the problematic Historical peanut Industry: The final destination of the peanut shell.

The energy obtained by the transformation of this biomass is incorporated into the national interconnected system, supplying 18,000 households per year. To generate energy you need approximately 50,000 tons of peanut shell a year.

Crop rotation

In PRODEMAN we consider that the proper management of the soil determines its productivity, sustainability and improves the yield of the crops. That is why we implement a rotation scheme that includes different crops that help to interrupt the cycle of diseases that affect peanuts. After the harvest the batches are sown, for four years, with soy, maize, wheat, rye or popcorn maize.

The benefits of good crop rotation include improving the yield and quality of peanuts, which better responds to residual soil fertility than direct fertilizer applications; The reduction of diseases, foreign material and chemical residues; Reduction in pesticide applications and improved weed control efficiency, which allows for cleaner harvesting.

ISO 14001 NORM CERTIFICATION

The ISO 14001 standard is a recognized international standard that establishes a framework to implement an environmental management system that will allow us to measure and improve our environmental performance.

PRODEMAN Certified ISO 14001, which is another proof of the company’s responsibility and commitment to the environment, and a guarantee to its employees, community and customers that all necessary actions are being carried out to minimize the Pollution and improve their quality of life.

The scope of the ISO 14001 certification comprises the activities carried out in our production plant in General Cabrera, Córdoba: Conditioning and processing of peanut confectionery, blanching peanuts and processed peanut products: toasted, fried, Pasta, grana, bathed, sweetened and crispy.
