Enviromental Policy

Prodeman has a clear environmental policy that comprehends several compromises that converge in a central objective, the sustainable production and the protection of the environment.

Among them, there are the soil conservation and the crop rotation, the responsible use of resources, the prevention of pollution through recycling, the environmental education of our employees, the continuous improvement of our environmental development, and the jointly efforts with the local governments and institutions to promote a circular economy and the sustainable development of our community.

Since 2010, in PRODEMAN we measure the Carbon Footprint of the company and of our products.
The Carbon Footprint is a measure of impact and environmental development, for this reason, it allows us to be conscious about our impact on the environment, and to design corrective actions so as to reduce it.
The Footprint is an inventory of the gasses of the greenhouse effect (GHG) emitted directly or indirectly by an individual, organization, activity, or product, and therefore, reflects the potential of global warming.
The carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most abundant GHG that is why the Footprint is expressed according to the amount of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2eq).

The scope of the measurement includes all the activities of the company, from primary production, transport of our raw material to the plant, processing of our products and transport to the final destination. Soon, the start-up of our bioenergy plant will allow us to offset up to 80% of our emissions, significantly reducing our footprint and consolidating our strong commitment to the environment and the community.

We have built a Thermal Power Station using exclusively the biomass peanut Shell.

This work meant a millionaire investment supported, economically, by a FONARSEC credit and PRODEMAN’s own contributions and, strategically, by a business decision based on ecological awareness and the search for a solution to a historical problem: the final destination of the peanut shell.

The energy obtained from the transformation of this biomass is incorporated into the national interconnected system, supplying 18,000 households per year. To generate energy it needs approximately 50,000 tons of peanut shell per year.

At Prodeman we believe that proper soil management determines productivity, sustainability and crop yields. That’s why we implemented a rotation scheme that includes crops that are resistant to diseases that can affect peanuts. After the harvest the lots are planted for four years with soybeans, corn, wheat, rye, pinsingallo corn, moha and sorghum.

A good rotation influences in benefits for the soul as yield improvement and quality of the peanut, which presents a better response to the residual fertility of the ground than to the direct applications of fertilizer; the reduction of diseases, foreign material and chemical residue; the reduction in the pesticide application and the improvement of the efficiency on the grass control, what brings a cleaner harvest.

ISO 14001 is a recognized international standard that establishes a framework for implementing an environmental management system that will allow us to measure and improve our environmental performance.

PRODEMAN Certified ISO 14001, which is proof of the company’s responsibility and commitment to the environment, and a guarantee for its employees, community and customers that they are carrying out all necessary actions to minimize pollution and improve their quality of life.

The scope of the ISO 14001 certification includes the activities carried out in our production plant in General Cabrera, Córdoba: Conditioning and processing of peanut confectionery products, blanched peanuts and processed peanut products: toasted, fried, pasta, grana, bathed, sugared and crunchy.
